VIGNETO DI CAMPOLUNGO

CHIANTI CLASSICO DOCG GRAN SELEZIONE

We have selected grapes with exceptional aromatic intensity from the historical Campolungo vineyard, which stretches from 1378-1903 feet above sea level amidst historical terraces, to create this Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. The winemaking wisdom of Lamole di Lamole results in a superb and solemn wine that declares its origin in its name, Vigneto di Campolungo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. It’s the result of our dedication and the fruit of one of our best vineyards.

GRAPES

Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon

ALTITUDE

1,378 - 1,890 ft. a.s.l.

AGING POTENTIAL

8-10 years

Vineyards between six and 74 years of age at 1378-1890 feet above sea level, with westerly exposure. Vinification in stainless steel with maceration for around 16 days. Six months of aging in stainless steel, then 30 months in large, 792-gallon casks.

The grapes are carefully picked, then destemmed, and passed through the optical sorter. Following pressing, the must ferments in 1320-gallon truncated, cone-shaped vats, with maceration on the skins for about two weeks. This is followed by at least 30 months of aging in medium-sized oak barrels, with a small proportion of the wines aging in smaller barriques.

Rich and decadent with wild berry, espresso, and clove notes. It has a full body with structured tannins that can be appreciated now or left to evolve with age.

Given its concentration and depth, this is a wine with ample food pairing possibilities. It goes exceptionally well with rich soups, pasta dishes with gamey sauces, blue-cheese frittatas, and meat recipes that are slow-cooked with spices, herbs, and roasted root vegetables. It’s a classic pairing for bistecca alla Fiorentina and aged hard cheeses.
